We have a house guest this week. 

My brother is back in Australia visiting us from his island home in Fiji.
It’s been over 2 years since he was here, but whenever he comes home, it’s as though he never left. I love when siblings get together, they’re teleported back to their childhood. No matter the age, we will always be kids when we’re together.

We’re on school holidays here in Victoria. So far, so good. Not much packing getting done with a house guest, but I still feel (somewhat) in control of where we’re at with everything. A few more items have cleared out and a few more boxes packed.
I find the days are fine, but the evenings are when I begin to get a little frazzled. Thinking about all that still needs to be done. 36 days. That’s all we have left until we set flight.

This week we have locked in all details for our first leg – Vietnam.
Saigon (Ho Chi Minh), Nha Trang and Hoi An, and finishing up with a week in Hanoi.
Our Visas have been sorted. New phones have been purchases. New clothes for the kids as they never stop growing..! All they need is some new runners and they’re set.
We’ve almost finished with our travel vaccinations. I must still book Dentist and Optometrist appointments for us all.
We’re researching like mad, and now it’s just a waiting game.
We are all very  excited to discover the beauty of Vietnam.

I anticipate that by about week 3 into the trip, we will have worked out where to head next, but then again – the plans could change. That’s what this year is all about. Taking a backseat on strict routine and all 4 of us learning to go with the flow a little more.
Our day-to-day life is very structured, it works for us.
Lily is generally pretty good when the routine slips a little over school holidays etc, but Spencer doesn’t cope quite as well. It will be good for him to chill and let go a bit. It’ll be good for us all.

I best try to get some packing done before everyone wakes up…
