Happy New Year: Cha-am, Thailand

29th January, 2018

Well, Happy New Year!!
It’s been a few weeks since I’ve had the time to sit down and tell you all about Cha-am.
We arrived a few days before Christmas…(you can read all about our Christmas in Thailand here).

Cha-am is only a 20 minute drive from Hua Hin – a little closer to Bangkok. We decided that we wanted to have some real ‘down time’ over the festive break. For the kids to spend their days in the pool and for us all to take it easy after a few busy weeks of travel.

We booked 2 weeks at the Regent Cha-am Beach Resort, and our days were spent just as we’d planned.

We stayed in the family room which was almost as big as a small house. The kids had their own space, complete with an under-the-sea themed room and boat beds!
We had a lounge room which was perfect for our little Christmas tree and a nice balcony overlooking the gardens and pool. It was great to be able to spread out and unpack our bags for a bit.

We had a few wet days which we took advantage of by watching movies and playing with new Christmas goodies.
Thankfully most of the time the weather was perfect and we were able to enjoy bike riding, swimming, and beach walks.

A short wander down the road is The Village which runs between the Regent and the Novotel.
The Village is one strip of restaurants, massage parlours, small gift shops, a Pharmacy and a 7-Eleven..(there is always a 7-Eleven!)

By the time our 2 weeks was up – I think we’d tried most of the restaurants in The Village and Harry’s Pizzeria was a firm family favourite, we ate there a few times. The Chicken and cashew pizza with homemade chilli oil was absolutely delicious!!

Another great place to get a quick and fresh lunch or dinner was The Village Restaurant .
They did the best curry in the strip! A sweet little family run business with lovely staff and very good food.

The kids made friends 3 children who live in Oman. They enjoyed craft and movie sessions at Kids Club and hanging out in the pool together. They all had a great time learning new words and phrases from each other. We have exchanged details and hopefully one day our paths will cross again.

Our New Years Eve was pretty low-key. We ate at Harry’s, watched the fireworks from our balcony, and were all in bed just after midnight. The kids thought it was brilliant staying up so late!

We had a wonderful time in Cha-am and were sad to leave. Grateful for our time there, and the new friendships made.

On the 2nd, we headed to Bangkok for one night before heading on to Malaysia.

I hope you’re well and your 2018 is off to a great start!
I haven’t made any new years resolutions but I am working hard on being present and really taking in this whole adventure.
The last couple of days in Cha-am I was on the ‘Debbie-Downer’ bus. No idea why…but I was in a bit of a funk. Perhaps it was being in the same place for too long? Maybe a little cabin fever due to a few rainy days in that limbo land between Christmas and New Year…?
Anyway, I am all good now. We have just enjoyed a fabulous 12 days in Malaysia.
That blog will be up asap.

Big love,
Cxx

Here is our latest YouTube video from our time in Cha am – enjoy x
