Yo Summer!

15th February, 2017

It’s been an odd Summer. We’ve really only had a handful of super hot days. Truth be told, I actually don’t mind it. Especially as we are about 45 minutes from the closest beach and don’t have a pool in the back yard.
Now, don’t get me wrong – I love the warm weather….when I’m poolside with cocktail in hand!

This past week in typical Victorian fashion, we have had all four seasons.
Monday was 19ºC, Thursday was 41ºC…
On Thursday the cool change hit in the early afternoon which was a delight for school pickup.
The kids and I came home and cracked open these Yo-Pops. Super easy, super healthy and such a clever little Aussie invention.
Simply suction the silicone mould to the bench, fill them up with your favourite fruits, yoghurt, flavoured milk or juice. Insert the plastic handle and pop them in the freezer for a few hours. (I have found that overnight freeze works best)

We’ve been experimenting with different flavour combinations and thought I’d share a couple.

Smoothie-Pop:
Make a small batch of smoothie blend with frozen mixed berries and yoghurt (any yoghurt will work).
Pour into moulds to fill half. Freeze for an hour. Top with plain yoghurt and fresh strawberries and finish with a little granola or toasted muesli.
Freeze.
(These are the ultimate – and brilliant for a breaky on the go!!)

Summer Fruits-Pop:
Fresh fruits (we used passionfruit, strawberries, blueberries and banana)
Plain yoghurt
Pop whatever you’d like into the mould and fill with yoghurt.
Freeze.

Piece of cake!
Oh, and the other great thing about these Yo-Pops is that they’re dishwasher safe.
Use them over and over and over and no need to worry about finding icy pole sticks around the house!

ENJOY!

I have been searching for these everywhere since you posted them. I have called spotlight almost everyday hoping they have them in with no luck.. And checked every Coles in my area, again with no luck! If I win them I already have so many ideas of what to put in them.. Thanks Mel 😘💕

    Smoothie-pop = WOW!!!!
A healthy and well balanced meal with the addition of granola or muesli. Bonus factor for non morning people like me is that it can be pre-prepared and ready as an easy grab and go brekky.

Oh I’d love to win some of these, they look awesome and have been after something like this for me and the fam!
Do you make them in batches or only make on the day you’ll eat them? Wasn’t sure how the yoghurt and fruit would go if left in freezer (ie too hard). Cheers!

I have been searching everywhere for these after seeing them on your IG pics! But no luck up in North QLD. It’s probably because it doesn’t get too hot up here 😳😉😂😂😂😂😂

    Hi Clare!
Have been trying to find these since I saw your original post but it appears that they are NOWHERE to be found in SA….anywhere 😭 I’ve tried 3 major supermarkets and spotlight so far. Would love to make these with my boys before summer is gone ☺️

These look fantastic !! So many ideas for different flavour combinations but I think a nice iced coffee flavour would be a delicious mummy treat 🙂

My kids will be over the moon if i win these for them. They have their own collection of recipes that they are going to make and enjoy summer to the fullest.

What a great idea to make these as a brekkie on the go. They look so delicious and what better way to hold onto summer for just that little bit longer. The colours and shape are so inviting. #icanstilltastesummer #yo-pops #sorrynotsorry
